Tastiest Food on Provo Center Street

london-broil-steak-horiz-a-20001. Communal

This sit down restaurant is sure to become one of your favorites because of its delicious entrees focused on bringing people together in a communal living style atmosphere. Each meal is made big enough so that it can be shared, meaning plate sizes are big which is rare when it comes to nicer restaurants. When I went, I ordered a London Broil steak with a size of grilled potatoes. I’m not usually much of a steak guy if I’m being real with you, but whatever ingredients they put on that steak changed my life. I find myself dreaming about its succulent rich flavor often. I will even occasionally wake up in the middle of the night with a craving for it. At this point it’s not even a want, it’s a need. Unless you want to have this same problem, stay away from Communal because you will be addicted.

2. Station 22

This casual American eatery serving updated classics should definitely be on your list of places to try. The food here tastes like they flew your grandma in from out of town to cook your meal for you exactly how she knows you like it. You know a restaurant is legit when there menu consists of basic items like chicken or mac n cheese and people are raving about it. Did I mention that one of there best-sellers is the chicken & waffles? I mean this dish is an easy one to do wrong, but Station 22 has found the perfect recipe to make this dish sell like crazy instead of just being something that people laugh at when they read past it on the menu. I can’t say enough good things about this place, I really can’t.

3. Los Hermanos

If you live in Utah, whether it’s been for 2 weeks or 2 years, you know that good mexican food is a rare commodity in these parts. This is probably the most stressful thing I’ve realized since moving here from Arizona 3 years ago. Luckily, where quick burrito shacks fall short, sit down restaurants like Los Hermanos save the day. The number one thing to order is the enchilada plate. Not only is it smothered in cheese and enchilada sauce, but the inside is stuffed to the rafters with the chicken. I would tell you about some other dishes they make, but my words won’t do this amazing food the justice that it deserves, so you’re just going to have to go out and find out on your own!

Top 3 Pizza Places in Utah County

pizzaPizza is debatably the greatest creation in the history of the world and when I say debatably, I’m saying that it is the single greatest thing we as humans have ever created. No one should live a life void of pizza, which is why I’ve created a list of the 3 best pizza places to eat in Utah County, Utah.

  1. Midici

This restaurant at University Mall creates an eccentric vibe which adds to the flavor of the delicious pizza they serve. Midici is known for making its personal sized pizzas fresh to order with only the finest ingredients of things that belong on a pizza. Midici doesn’t mess around by having anything weird like pineapples as a topping. Just a thin crust with rich flavors to make you feel like you’re in the heartland of pizzas creation, Italy. Would rate this restaurant a 9.3/10.

  1. Pizzeria Seven Twelve

Located just of state st. in Orem, Pizzeria Seven Twelve provides a thick crusted pizza that everyone can appreciate. They pride themselves on having one of the ticker pizzas in town by loading the pies up with vast amounts of sauce and melted cheese that could string over a foot if you let it. Would rate this restaurant a 9.1/10.

  1. Blaze Pizza

Blaze Pizza is like the subway of pizza places. They have endless options so you can personalize your pizza however you’d like and they have ranch as well (I’m a huge pizza with ranch type of guy! While we won’t hold it against them that they have pineapples as an option for your pizza, I will applaud Blaze for having amazing topping options. Would rate this restaurant a 8.8/10.

My top 5 favorite places to eat in Provo/Orem

1) OTEO

Oteo is a modern, simple Mexican restaurant that serves thoughtfully sourced, custom tacos, empanadas and sopes.

I find it hard to narrow down my favorite item from the menu because I order something new every single time and I’m never disappointed. I recommend going on a Tuesday so you can take advantage of the taco Tuesday special where you get 3 tacos for $10. I usually get 1 of each of the 3 tacos they offer because all the flavors compliment each other. Between sweet pork, chicken, and carnitas, you get a good flavor assortment.

2) MidiCi – The Neapolitan Pizza Company

MidiCi specializes in creating tasty wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, salads, paninis, calzones, desserts and a kids menu, all made with fresh, natural and for the most part, non-GMO ingredients in an open kitchen. You have the option to sit under the tree or near a fire pit. MidiCi prides themselves on bringing friends together in an upbeat, warm atmosphere. It’s definitely an experience you won’t want to miss out on.

My favorite thing from the menu is the Margherita pizza paired with the walnut and gorgonzola salad. The pizza clearly conveys that every ingredient is fresh with a nice finishing touch of extra virgin olive oil drizzled on top. The salad has all the basic ingredients you might find elsewhere, but the quality of the ingredients is what makes it a stellar dish paired with a pizza.

3) Thai Drift

This is the best Thai restaurant in the area, not because they do anything different than other Thai restaurants, but because everything just tastes great.

My main option I recommend is the Massaman Curry (my favorite item offered by a restaurant on the list). The peanut sauce combined with the curry and chicken taste unlike anything I’ve ever tasted before. I’m convinced I could eat this for every meal for a whole week and never get sick of it.

4) Wallaby’s Smokehouse

Wallaby’s is an Australian-inspired establishment offering BBQ packed with flavor. They have an assortment of options ranging from ribs to pulled pork fresh off the bone. The meat options pair well with any of the 5 flavors of BBQ sauce they make in house. If you enjoy bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and food made from scratch, you’ll love Wallaby’s.

I love the half rack of ribs as the main entree with the smashers and mac and cheese as your sides. The ribs are smoked to perfection and fall off the bone with minimal effort. The smashers are there version of mash potatoes, drenched in melted cheese and bacon bits. This meal is a bang for your buck and guarantees to fill you up and leave you leftovers for the next day.

5) Bombay House

Bombay house is a Indian restaurant near the heart of Provo. They make the best types of curry that India has to offer.

My recommendation is the chicken tikka masala. The meat is barbecued in a tandoor oven, then cooked with a mixture of ingredients such as bell pepper, onion, garlic, ginger, tomatoes and cream. It also come with an Indian flat bread to dip into the curry and rice.

Eating in Utah County

kabobs

Choosing a place to eat in this town can be daunting because of how many different options we have to choose from. Luckily for you, I’ve compiled a short list of restaurants you can try while you’re visiting or if you’ve been here for 12 years and you’re just trying to change it up a bit.

Sweet’s Hawaiian Grill

This hole in the wall Hawaiian food place is home to some of the best island food you can find when not currently living on an island. The best dish they offer is a combo of fried chicken katsu and grilled pork. This is paired with juicy white rice glazed in their homemade thin teriyaki sauce. The final touch is a creamy white macaroni that ties everything together perfectly.

Even Stevens

If you think all sandwich places are the same, you’ve clearly never tried Even Stevens before. Even though the restaurant leans more towards the healthier end of the spectrum, it still packs a delicious punch. My personal favorite is the “Do Gounda”, which is basically just a sandwich made with fresh ingredients and then drowned in gouda cheese. There’s no such thing as too much cheese! Also, you might’ve read in an earlier blog post where I said the local Mexican restaurants are terrible, well I meant that. What I didn’t mention is that Even Stevens has the hands-down best breakfast burrito in town. You know the Mexican restaurants nearby need to step up there game if a sandwich place is winning the burrito competition. Don’t let me forget, the tortilla is coated with a thick layer of cheese inside the burrito. All I’m saying is, if you don’t love cheese, then this blog probably isn’t right for you.

P.S.

If you want to feel even better about eating here, for every sandwich that someone buys, a donation is made to help feed people in under-developed countries around the world.
